The saying goes, “blood is thicker than water.” But we believe the bonds we choose — and the love we show up with — are just as binding. This cookout is for origin families who chose to love their people fully and for the chosen families we build when blood wasn't enough or safe. Both are real.

Yes. Free to attend. Food will be available on site from while supplies last. Bring cash if you want to support vendors directly. You're also encouraged to bring your own food, coolers, and drinks. Free water throughout the day.

Black families with queer, trans, and nonbinary children — whether you've always been affirming or you're still finding your way. Chosen families. Trans and nonbinary parents and people themselves. The broader Black queer and allied community in Atlanta.

Yes. We’ll have a trained security team on site and have coordinated with the city. This is a family event and we take the safety of our attendees seriously.
